Spring is here!

Spring is here and we are enjoying every minute.  Avery started swimming lessons this past week.  She did great and only fussed a few times.  I was so proud considering the other little boy had been going three weeks and cried the whole time.  She went under the water several times and didn't mind too much.  We are also trying to get to her used to drinking formula out of a sippy cup.  Whew, what a hard thing to do...any suggestions?
Chillin' in her high chair tilted back trying to get her to lift the sippy cup back.  Enjoying her teething biscuit.
Loving that biscuit all smeared on her face.  Still NO teeth at 10.5 months. :)
The first nice day I took her outside to stand by some flowers and she just sat down and started crying.  She doesn't cry all that much.  She was not used to grass.  My girly girl!
Now she is happy looking at the flowers.

Daddy reading to Avery.  One of her favorite books.
First day of swimming lessons.  She was not too happy with me taking pictures so this is best one I got.  She was so cute toodling around in her bathing suit.
Practicing for Avery's first birthday.  I got this cool cupcake tower.  Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I can't take credit for the cute labels.  I got them from TomKatStudio . I love all of her precious items and occasionally she gives you free labels and calendars.

  1. oohhhh love the cupcake tower! Where did you get it! I must have one!

Oh and Avery is precious as always... I'm going to ask my Birth to Three professor about tips for sippy cup use. She's an expert in feeding issues plus she's got two kids of her own! Did you warm her bottles? Maybe she'd like slightly warm sippy cup formula? Or you may need to put "training handles" on a bottle.... we did that with the kid I nanny for! I believe Dr. Brown's has some.

  2. Oh my goodness, I LOVE THE BATHING SUIT! I am just dying! :-) I also wish that I was eating one of those cupcakes right now!

As far as formula in a sippy cup...Colin never did that. He got formula in his bottle and practiced with the sippy cup all day with water and watered down juice in his cup. When the formula was over at a year, I started serving warm milk in his sippy, as well as the water and juice combo. He continued to take a warm milk bottle a couple of times a day until he was around 15 months (probably just because it was soothing), but I was fine with that because he drank great out of his sippy cup, too. We also played around with lots of different cups until we found ones that he liked...the straw top ones saved the day! The ones like you have in the picture were a no go for Colin; he hated them until he was much older. The straw ones were perfect and he loved them. Maybe give that a try!

  3. I just saw the above comment! We are talking about cup drinking today in class... try the straws cups! My professor just said "I wish all my parents would trash their sippy cup and use straws!" So from a professional... do it!

  4. I am happy to report that Avery is a fantastic "straw" drinker. We got the Nuby cups, and they are great. Thanks for the suggestions. It is much better than the sippy cup and she drinks her formula out of it. YAY!!!
